This Privacy Policy explains how Waheed Studio (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use the PlayVPN mobile application (Android and iOS), our website at https://playvpn.org, and related services (collectively, the “Service”).

2. Scope

This policy applies to:

The PlayVPN app (package: com.waheedstudio.playvpn)
Our website and legal pages (Privacy, Terms, FAQ)
Push notifications, in-app support, and optional premium features billed through app stores

3. Information we collect

3.1 Account and identifiers

Firebase Authentication: When you use the app, we may create an anonymous account or, if you sign in later, an account identifier (user ID) to sync settings and VPN peer configuration.
App instance ID: Used for analytics, crash diagnostics, and fraud prevention (Firebase App Check).

3.2 VPN and connection data

Connection metadata: Selected server/region, connection start and end times, connection success or failure, and general session duration.
WireGuard public key: Generated on your device to establish a VPN tunnel; private keys remain on your device.
Technical diagnostics: Latency estimates, protocol used, and error codes needed to operate and improve the VPN service.

We do not collect or store: websites you visit, DNS queries, the contents of your VPN traffic, browsing history, or files you download while connected.

3.3 Device and app information

Device model, operating system version, app version, language, and general region (country-level, not precise GPS).
Network type (Wi‑Fi / mobile data) for troubleshooting connectivity.
Notification permission status and push token (if you enable notifications).

3.4 Analytics and product improvement

Firebase Analytics: Events such as app open, server selection, VPN connect/disconnect (without traffic content).
Aggregated usage: Helps us understand which features and servers are used so we can improve performance and reliability.

3.5 Advertising (Google AdMob)

The free version of PlayVPN may show ads served by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect or receive:

Advertising ID (GAID on Android / IDFA on iOS, subject to your device settings)
IP address (approximate location), device type, and ad interaction data

You can limit ad personalization in your device settings (Google Settings → Ads on Android; Privacy → Tracking on iOS). Premium subscribers may receive an ad-free experience when that feature is enabled in the app.

3.6 Communications

If you email support@playvpn.org, we receive your email address, message content, and any information you choose to provide.

4. How we use your information

Provide, operate, and maintain the VPN Service
Authenticate users and protect backends (Firebase App Check, Firestore security rules)
Assign VPN peers and server configurations
Send optional push notifications about service updates (if enabled)
Display advertisements in the free tier (AdMob)
Measure app performance and fix bugs
Respond to support requests and enforce our Terms of Service
Comply with legal obligations and prevent abuse or fraud

5. Legal bases (EEA/UK users)

Where GDPR applies, we rely on:

Contract: To deliver the VPN Service you request
Legitimate interests: Security, fraud prevention, analytics, and service improvement
Consent: Push notifications and personalized ads where required by law
Legal obligation: When we must retain or disclose data under applicable law

6. Sharing and third parties

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with service providers that help us run PlayVPN:

Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Cloud Messaging, Analytics, App Check)
Google AdMob (advertising in the free app)
Google Play / Apple App Store (subscription and payment processing; we do not receive your full payment card details)
VPN infrastructure providers (hosting VPN servers; they process encrypted tunnel traffic but, per our design, do not receive your browsing content from us)

We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect rights, safety, and security of users and the Service.

7. International transfers

Our providers may process data in countries other than yours (including the United States). Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses offered by major cloud providers.

8. Data retention

Account and VPN config: Retained while your account is active; deleted or anonymized upon account deletion request where feasible.
Connection metadata: Retained only as long as needed for operations, security, and billing disputes (typically limited months unless law requires longer).
Support emails: Retained as long as needed to resolve your request and for reasonable record-keeping.
Analytics: Aggregated or anonymized data may be kept longer for statistics.

9. Security

We use industry-standard measures including encryption in transit (VPN tunnels, HTTPS), Firebase security rules, App Check, and access controls on infrastructure. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Your rights and choices

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

Access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you
Object to or restrict certain processing
Withdraw consent (e.g., disable notifications or ad personalization in device settings)
Data portability, where applicable
Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority

To exercise these rights, email privacy@playvpn.org with your request. We may need to verify your identity before responding.

11. Children’s privacy

PlayVPN is not directed to children under 13 (or 16 in some regions). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

12. Premium subscriptions

Paid plans are processed by Google Play or the Apple App Store. We receive subscription status and transaction identifiers from the store, not your full payment details. Refunds follow each store’s policies.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the new version at https://playvpn.org/privacy and update the “Last updated” date. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
